June started with a trip to the dentist. It was this little guy's first trip. He was a little nervous (you'd never know it with the cool guy sunglasses) but he was brave and got through it great.
We love having the sisters come visit! We had to say goodbye to Sister Uhila and we were very sad.
We finally finished the signs Grandpa made for/with the kids. Janie got her red sparkly sign, thanks to a little addition of glitter nail polish.
Milo and I took a little trip to Macon to see a developmental pediatrician. He was a great road trip partner. She was the second specialist we visited to get some things figured out for him. He is amazingly smart and good-natured. He also has some behavioral things to work out. We are grateful for all the specialists, educators and caring adults who have helped us move in the best direction for him, especially at school.
I had fun taking a trip down memory lane getting to teach the Young Women how to sew a simple drawstring backpack. Also kind of fun that I used the leftover fabric from Shanna's bridesmaids dresses.
We are always looking for a good nature experience. We discovered a new state park and enjoyed hiking, paddle-boating and then cooling off in the splash pad.
My two boys modeling just 'cause they're handsome and they know it.
Love this scene of family game time on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Had to document this because I cannot remember the last time this child fell asleep anywhere other than his bed.
Hard to believe Carli got to go to girls camp this year. I loved hearing about her experiences and finding out they still sing the same camp songs I learned all the way across the country 20+ years ago.
We picked Carli up from camp and drove directly to the airport to head to Oregon for Grammie Camp and the family reunion. Carli was a trooper after a tiring week. Travelling with this crew is a little less stressful with Daddy.
Of course, the obligatory cockpit picture...
As we sat waiting (and waiting, and waiting) for our delayed flight, this 3-year-old tapped my leg and said, "Look, Mom, I drawed my name!" And sure enough, he did! And after my surprised and proud reaction, he erased it and said, "Look, I drawed your name too." I am floored by this smart little cookie.
Logan and I got up early (which wasn't hard, thanks to jet lag) and headed out with the boys so the girls could have their Grammie Camp with their cousins. We took off to Silver Falls to see how we fared hiking with these two. It was the best. It was beautiful weather and so peaceful and relaxing. We thought we were walking their little legs off, but they held up amazingly well and we ended up hiking 5+ miles. It was the perfect way to start off our vacation.
Milo was very excited to help Dad plan out the route on the map.
They did show signs of wear and tear once we got in the car to head home...
Meanwhile, these cute girls were enjoying their Grammie without parents to get in the way. Shopping, dressing up, hair-doing, eating out, giggling, etc filled their time.
These cute cousins had all kinds of adventures together. It sure would be fun if they could hang out more often.
A day at the beach in the Oregon is a little different experience than we've become used to here in Georgia. It was chilly, both air and water. But the kids still couldn't get enough. In fact, Tad started out with a little temper tantrum that the water was so cold it hurt him and he really wanted to be in it. Through the course of the day he figured out that if he buried his toes in the sand they didn't feel the sting of the frigid water. When it was time to go he told me, "You can go. I'll stay here. The waves are my best friend." We also had the good fortune of watching a pod of whales play the whole day. What a fun time!
Speaking of cousins, we were thrilled to finally meet the newest one. Janie was always ready for a turn to snuggle, read to and rock to sleep little Harper.
With all these girls around, there was plenty of dressing up. Tad was not going to be left out of that fun, so we usually found him hanging out around the house like this...
and this...
We took a little excursion to a "train museum" down the road. It wasn't quite what we expected, but we enjoyed each other's company nonetheless. And we got to ride an old trolley, so that was fun.
Papa set up a pirate ship, complete with lookout, plank and swords. These swashbucklers, deep in their imaginations played here together for hours.
We also spent a day on the lake. The weather wasn't exactly cooperative, but it really didn't diminish the fun. Even I couldn't help but get in on it.
Look at this amazing group! What a great legacy Grammie and Papa have established!
