October 2018

October started out with a case of strep. Poor little guy.

Then it treated us to another hurricane. We were again lucky to be on the very outskirts of the storm. It hit overnight and we got some pretty heavy wind and a little rain. The power was out for about 10 hours, but I can't imagine what it was like to get the worst of Michael. The only damage we noticed was a pecan tree in the orchard behind our house that got knocked over.

We had quite the adventure building a swing set for the kids. I'm just really grateful this adventure didn't involve any injuries, because it easily could have... *phew*

We endured the heat to watch the Fair parade. These four kiddos have my heart.

We took the kids to the fair and saw some fun shows (including pig racing and a magic show), an exotic petting zoo and let the kids pick a few rides. It's not quite the MN State Fair, but this will definitely be an annual tradition for us.

So many storms meant a lot of people in need. Logan was gone several weekends to the Carolina's and Florida to help with hurricane cleanup. He was very humbled by the devastation caused there and was happy to be part of the service effort.

We did miss our daddy on all those weekends away though.

My friends decided I didn't have nearly enough holiday decor, so they got me started on this cute pumpkin.

The ward trunk or treat is always fun.

Mary Poppins (in case my thrown together costume isn't recognizable...)

The school's annual pumpkin parade had to be moved indoors because of the threat of bad weather. Janie's grade dressed up like dinos and did the dinosaur stomp.

Carli's class dressed up from the book Maniac Magee. (Not completely sure about the pizza face connection, guess you have to read the book...)

After stake conference we decided to explore a state park. It was the most beautiful day and fun to get out and be in nature.

Tad was helping a friend get her Halloween costume ready.

As much work as it is, I really love the tradition of making pepitas from the carved out jack o' lanterns.

Carli dressed up as a Valkyrie.

Janie was a clown. (Although I don't think that will ever happen again after she went through the clown-themed neighborhood haunted house.)

"Bee boop, I am a robot"

And little brother wanted to dress up too, but only for a few minutes. He was really just in it for the candy.

A cute little video of a big brother reading to a little brother.

Tad really caught on to Dad's new nickname for Mom.
